Until now, no single product - neither software, hardware nor a mixture of both, has fully integrated da Vinci's industry standard color enhancement toolsets into a digital intermediate workflow.
THE DIGITAL MASTERING SUITE
Resolve's color correction processes are visualized by node mapping - a pictorial view of the system's signal flow. Multiple layers of color processing, windowing, defocus, image filtering, and a host of new refinements and features can be cascaded or added in parallel. Furthermore, Resolve naturally inherits the da Vinci "look and feel" and it provides familiar tools to the hundreds of experienced da Vinci users as well as artists, editors and compositors adding color enhancement to their imaging portfolio.
Resolve's standard features include multiple layers of color enhancement, cascaded or connected in parallel for unrivaled flexibility. Each identical layer contains traditional four-channel (RGBY) primary and secondary controls, as well as tools to isolate lift, gamma, gain, saturation, Custom Curves, and soft clipping with the exclusive da Vinci PowerWindows, Kilovectors, and keys.

SOFTWARE FLEXIBILITY & HARDWARE SPEED
Based on open architecture ideals, Resolve maximizes speed, flexibility and throughput by combining a powerful software application with general purpose computing platforms. To ensure that performance meets da Vinci standards and exceeds customor expectations, PowerPlant, da Vinci's own dedicated, massive bit-processing PCI-X image processing accelerator hardware, has been added, To further increase overall system performance, several PowerPlants can be combined to form a PowerGrid, further ratcheting up system performance to truly deliver real-time, multi-layered color correction on full film resolution images, not just proxies.
ADVANCED DA VINCI TOOLSET - UNLIMITED IN EVERY DIMENSION
With control panels offering the globally accepted da Vinci work surface, Resolve's friendly user interface is simple and fast. Colorists will be comfortable finding the controls right where they want them.
Resolve features a complete set of advanced tools such as PowerWindows with unlimited softness and additionally, the nodal display shows multiple customized filters in each frame.
DEFOCUS AND SHARPEN WITH OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE
Defocus is the breakthrough creative tool that helped position the da Vinci 2K Plus as the industry standard color enhancement system. Now Defocus is even more powerful with Resolve. Whether it's a subtle softening of a qualified color or a blurring or sharpening of the overall image, a high quality Defocus effect can be easily dropped into any Resolve node adding dramatic effects to the color processing flow.
With traditional computing hardware defocus effects can be highly compute intensive thus compromising overall system performance. Not with Resolve. Defocus performance is fully optimized using da Vinci's exclusive PowerPlant acceleration hardware delivering immediate feedback and interactivity to the colorist. |
